American Impressionism as is defined as “The concern for light on form, color, and brushstrokes. Allowing equal latitude between these attributes, and recognizing not a single definitive element, but several factors–including high key light and hue, visual breakdown of detail, concern for contemporary life, and cultivation of direct and spontaneous approaches to a subject.”

Glen Arbor Arts Center Plein Air Weekend

Kelley is looking forward to painting in Glen Arbor, Michigan the weekend of August 6th and 7th. Hope to see you!

Artists from across Michigan and throughout the Midwest register to participate in this three-day annual fundraiser, which has become one of Michigan’s largest and most popular Paint Outs. The aim and challenge of the Plein Air Weekend are to “capture the moment”, working quickly to complete a painting. All 2-D works must be initiated and finished on the same day, rain or shine. The artists return to GAAC in the late afternoon to enter their work in the judged exhibit in which the public is invited to attend. Plein air painting refers to the technique of painting out-of-doors which was popularized by the French Impressionists in the mid-nineteenth century

Paint Dexter 2020

Kelley enjoyed the beautiful city of Dexter, Michigan during her fifth year painting in the Paint Dexter Plein Air Event.

A tremendous thanks to the generous folks out appreciating the artwork being created during this special week, and especially those who purchased a painting.
